Label guarantees
Validated in June 2020, as the result of the work of professionals, wood industry organisations and certification bodies, the BOIS DE FRANCE standard offers a twofold guarantee: the wood comes from sustainably managed French forests and is processed close to where it is harvested in France, in order to limit transport and greenhouse gas emissions. Thanks to a traceability reference system and audits carried out annually, the label guarantees that a finished product, identified as BOIS DE FRANCE, contains wood from French forests and that this wood is 100% processed in France.
The BOIS DE FRANCE standard has a clear objective: to promote French forest resources and the expertise of wood processing professionals, while making a positive contribution to reducing the carbon footprint of construction as well as maintaining local jobs.
How to get involved ?
There are two ways of getting involved with BOIS DE FRANCE:
through the BOIS DE FRANCE product labelling - this is the case for processors, retailers, etc. - or project labelling, such as the new headquarters of the ONF in Maisons-Alfort, a BOIS DE FRANCE certified building;
through partnerships. This is the case for players such as IBC and URBAIN DES BOIS, who are committed to promoting the use of BOIS DE FRANCE in construction projects, and for forestry and wood industry interprofessions through bio-sourced wood pacts (Grand Est, Auvergne Rhône Alpes, etc.).
Committed companies
The BOIS DE FRANCE label recently passed the mark of 200 committed companies! These companies partake in a wide range of activities within the timber industry - 1st and 2nd transformation, construction, fuelwood, trade, packaging, paper - and are located all over France.
A team close to the players and their market
In 2022, BOIS DE FRANCE label strengthened its team by welcoming Céline Barbier and Anthony Marcadier, development managers in the East (Lyon) and West (Bordeaux) of France. They joined Jérôme Martinez, head of the label in Nancy. More recently, Lucie Haziza joined the team in Lyon. This regional presence demonstrates the label's desire to offer close support to the French timber industry players and their markets.
